I don't even know the name of this business. It is the coffee drive-through that replaced Day-O at the corner of Pacheco Boulevard and Center Avenue.
Their sign is a joke. It looks like they used the Day-O old sign structure, ripped off the "Day-O" actual sign and replace it with the super-original name "Coffee Shop". Brilliant! However, the font they used for that sign is tall and narrow. You can't even read it, especially when you are driving by. The letters are in black on a white background. Not very appealing. Aren't you supposed to "Be seen!". On my second and last stop there, I thought I would give some positive input. I mentioned that their sign is not very visible and asked if they were waiting for a new sign. The answer of the barista was "You can really see it well at night, when it is lit". OK.... so you want your potential customers to see you only when it is dark? Might be OK during the winter months, what about during the approaching summer? When I asked if they sold any morning pastries, the same barista responded that the owner is still looking for a bakery. Isn't that something of major importance when you run a drive-through coffee shop? Check out Caffino in Lafayette. So, their market is "people driving through the area, who will probably not see the coffee shop between the hours of 6:00AM and 9:00PM, but who do want coffee, and coffee only. If they want a pastry, they can make another stop or go across the street and grab a Snickers at 7-Eleven." Good luck! I am sorry if I am being sarcastic. I admire the entrepreneurship spirit and want every entrepreneur to succeed. But I would be surprised to see that business still operating in 6 months. Their only chance would be to serve the best coffee in the area. Unfortunately it is far from being exceptional. Pete's is still better.
One last thing: no matter how not fancy your business is or how limited your budget is when you open your business, curb appeal is VERY important. No visible sign and an ugly PG&E power box with chipped paint on it does not give a good first impression. One very last thing: When you enter the driveway from Center Avenue, watch your turn. You need to make a pretty wide then sharp turn if you don't want to back up and maneuver.
One star for supplying caffeine. A bonus star for amateur entrepreneurship. Keep the spirit, but learn your basics. Cutting corners will never be profitable!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
