Gaststätte Schützenhof

This unassuming restaurant that has been around since the 1950's is a true German food experience. The interior makes you feel like you are in a German living room with steins and various knickknacks everywhere. I ordered the sauerbraten and my friend ordered the pork shoulder. It was one of the best sauerbratens I've ever had with a huge potato dumpling that was flavorful and not gummy like others I've had. I tasted my friend's dish and it was also mouthwatering. The prices are great and the proprietress was very friendly and helpful (and speaks some English). If you want what I imagine is close to a home-cooked German meal in all the right ways, find your way to Schützenhof and prepare for some German food realness.
