Jensen's Foods

We were staying in Palm Springs for a week during coronavirus, and I've been on a sourdough baking frenzy. I had the idea of making some homemade pretzels for my crew and was searching for malted barley syrup. When I asked for it at one of the local grocery stores, they suggested that Jensen's might have it.

I didn't realize the grocery store employee that referred me was messing with me until I walked into Jensen's. Obviously, Jensen's, with all the aisles of chicharones and hot sauces, was not going to have malted barley syrup!

The deli in the back was busy though, and being that it was lunchtime, it was clear that every construction worker nearby was heading over to get one of their deli goodies for lunch. And I don't just mean the latino workers... I mean ALL workers. There was a very diverse gathering of men filling all the tables pounding down some very yummy looking, not heart-healthy fine deli dining.

My review is only is relation to the malted barley syrup, which they didn't have.

This place used to be so good, it's gone way downhill now. Maybe new ownership.
We ordered the gamacho sandwich and it was missing half the Ingredients, didn't taste fresh either, idk if it was the cheese or the Mayo but it tasted off. lady behind the deli also didn't seem to care about anything. Probably won't be going to this location anymore.

I love this little store for sandwiches, tacos & burritos when in a pinch. They are also good for those items you want to grab and go rather than going to the grocery store.

This place doesn't stock stuff regularly and they don't care about keeping customers. Gave them three weeks to bring an item back in stock and they today said they probably won't restock it due to change in ownership. Well that's too bad, the new owners need to get with it. The manager lady didn't seem to care if I shopped at this location or not. Their loss.

It's a mini-mart that sells liquor, but their deli counter and sandwiches are divine. Go at lunch time and stand in line behind many blue color workers who want their fix of burritos or sandwiches.

My sister swears the garbacho sandwich is the best sandwich in the world. Not sure it is, but I can't think of many I have had better. It is excellent. The Chile Verde burrito is a personal favorite too. (anything with lots of cilantro makes me happy).

I was thinking of how great this place use to be, when the cashiers greeted everyone who walked in and there was a smile on their face as well as in their voices. That was then, but today completely different. Slow service unwelcoming and to listen to them chitchat and overhearing snide remarks regarding the customers was a bit much. Rarely did someone come in or go out that a rude statement was made about the customer. Can't people understand that we can hear you? I'm sure you it's not a good day for you, but please don't make everyone else miserable because you are. Shame to have to start my day off with your bad attitude. Hope you all have a better day!

Sure love me some carne Asada tacos! Great place to grab a quick bite from the deli!
Make sure to call in your order or prepare to wait 20+ min in line with the lunch crowd!

My favorite local place. Amazing breakfast burritos and ceviche. And always clean with courteous staff. This is a gem of a place and honored to have it so close to home.

What kind of grocery mart sells ground coffee but no filters, and even worse when I tried to ask if they had them they looked at me like I was crazy and said they didn't know what a coffee filter was! They led me around the store looking at all their coffee products but when I kept saying "the filters please" they just looked at me and led me to another non-filter coffee item until I finally got frustrated. Please listen!!

Okay, after eating another carnitas taco especial, I am forced to raise my rating to four stars. This thing is just freakin' delicious. Priced at $2.49 and chock full o' meat, it's a deal. I challenge you to find a better carnitas taco anywhere in the Valley. Seriously.

They could still use the heavy cleaning and a coat of paint, though.
