Located on the outskirts of Munich's Ostpark, this Bavarian restaurant offers a large patio overlooking an artificial lake.
We came here for dinner on a Friday night last summer and opted to sit outside to catch a bit of a breeze on a hot day.
We ordered the Wiener Schnitzel with roasted potatoes, an order of
Spätzle, the roasted Romanesco salad with goat cheese and an order of Apfelküchle with vanilla ice cream.
The food was pretty good and this would have been a 4-star review if the service would not have been so slow.
It took a really long time to be able flag down our waitress so that she could take our orders and then it seem to take forever and a day until the food came out.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Curt F.奇維塔韋基亞, 意大利01572022年4月9日
They are closed due to no employees. Do not go as they are not open. As of April 10th

Excellent food, subpar service...
I could actually stop at that because those four words say it all. But as a dedicated yelper, I will dive in a bit deeper. :-D
We met a bunch of friends (We were 10 altogether) at Michaeligarten and were super excited to try their food. And we were rewarded with great Krustenbraten, calves liver, soups, and salads.
The service on the other hand... oh well. We came early, the restaurant was almost empty. So we thought service might be great. But as it so often is, the slower business is the slower the service. Our waiter, let's call him Martin (I guess that was actually his name, ha) was not happy with us being there and *gasp* demanding his attention.
So he was slow... very slow. And he hid from us. We had to flag down other people to ask him to come over.
When we asked for stuff, he got defensive (my friend ordered a hot apple cider with cinnamon cream, the cream had no cinnamon in it, he got angry with her because HE didn't put the cream on the cider LOL. She asked him to return it to the kitchen and get the right cream. He came back and told her the chef mixed up his cream dispensers. No apology.
I asked for the WIFI password, he told me their network was slow. I told him I didn't care, I just wanted to get online. He told me, my LTE would be faster. I told him I didn't have Internet since I was traveling from abroad and didn't want to pay roaming fees. He finally gave me the password.
All in all, it was a nice evening because I hadn't seen my friends in over 2 years and the food was good. We had fun with Martin, because he seemed to hate us so much. And we still gave him a tip, because we are nice people :-DHelpful 3Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - Ralph R.Hampstead, 美國52150832021年8月13日
Lunch with mom. It was a super efficient Biergarten, as one would expect. The Pork Shank was very tasty and crispy. The roasted pork was tender but could have been a bit crispier.

Restaurant is closed due to COVID. No info as to when it will reopen. We walked there twice, once on Sunday then again on the Monday. Better call restaurants first nowdays to make sure they are open before going.

This is a warning not to go to Michaeligarten (if you're hungry, that's too bad...the sign says they are closed and do not know when they'll reopen. We tried. We walked a long way only to find out it's not open. The website needs updating.

Nice seatings on deck over looking the pond. Not impressed with the foods or service. That's why I've been there only twice in over 23 years eventhough it's near my place.

3.5 STARS
I really like this beer garden but 1) it's a real schlepp from city centre, and 2) they serve Löwenbräu. Two strikes, Michaeli, two strikes...
But soft! Lieth a playground in yon reach? Be we neighboured by lakey goodness? Do my eyes deceive, or doth a stage/bandstand thingy lie dead centre, that minstrels might amuse us, humble drinky peeps? YEA!
Dishware, thou art no longer my expensive, Pfand-consuming foe, for MichaeliGarten knows no such burden! Nor must one his own table clear, said service being rendered by (sometimes, usually not so) merry gentlemen (term being loosely applied, but hey, they get the job done).
'Tis a happy haven for families, and a merry haunt for friends. If you find yourself lost to the east of Munich, make rest here.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Cassandra L.Mountain Top, 美國2101472016年9月20日
Good German food and great beer selection. For starters we had a salmon and avocado mousse which was not described as raw but my fiancé said turned out to be delicious! I had the spinach dumplings, which are exactly what they sound like a whole lot of spinach. The dumplings themselves were cooked very well and very tasty, the sauce was a spinach overload. My fiancé had the Beef Roulade which was good aside from being over cooked. The mashed potatoes were delicious. Overall a decent place for dinner. (Our server was cold and uninterested, that may or may not have been cultural).

Michaeligarten is right on the lake in the Ostpark, making it perfect for a nice stroll or bike-ride and beer afterwards.
The playground is great, although probably a little too tough/big for small ones! It also has the best nappy changing facilities of any beer garden, if you're bringing a very little one with you.
Mixed salads are wonderful here, and the Krustenbraten is the best we've ever had from any beer garden. Not a whole lot of tourists here compared to others. Usually plenty of tables available, even on a busy day (shade negotiable, of course). All in all, a great hidden treasure of Munich.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
