Vip Tour & Charter Bus Company

During the Halloween season VIP bus tours offer two trips to Salem. This is the easiest way to travel during the busiest time of the year. Hop on the bus and leave the driving to Dennis. He was fantastic and dressed the part for Halloween. We had so much fun Friday the 29th we went the 31st too! Two days in Salem was incredible!

We used VIP for our wedding transportation (from Portsmouth, NH to York, ME) and they were great. Reasonably priced, prompt in communications, and everything ran smoothly the day of. Our guests also specifically mentioned how friendly the bus drivers were!

So loved our trip to Salem on this bus!!!!!! The driver and hostess were amazing!!!! They were fun, the bus was decorated , it was a great trip!!!!!!

The bus (5115) was okay, but the driver was extremely rude. We were with a tour group being transported from our cruise ship to the airport. There was some mixup on the bus assignment and the driver berated our tour guide loudly and unnecessarily. He was also very rude to the passengers. I don't know who was responsible for the mixup, but there was no excuse for his behaviour. I am leaving Maine with a very bad impression of Portland.

Horrible customer service - don't use this company. We hired VIP to transport our guests to and from our wedding venue in Boothbay Harbor. The bus we ordered was for up to 48 people, which was perfect considering the number of guests we had. On the day of the wedding the bus was late and only 8 of 48 guests ended up getting on the bus. The others ended up driving, which was exactly what we didn't want to happen and the reason we contracted a bus in the first place.

When I found out about this through my guests, I immediately called the company to figure out what had happened and to see if I could get some sort of refund or resolution. I spoke with Maureen and it took her a number of days to get back to me - I had to follow up twice. She told me that she had looked up the records and the bus was "only 10 minutes late" due to traffic and therefore, they couldn't do anything about it, or offer any sort of refund. . Mind you, I got this response back in an EMAIL after normal business hours on a Friday night. How unprofessional. I wrote back explaining to them that 1. I never received as much as a phone call from the company or bus driver saying that he/she would be late. If I had I could've told my guests to wait a little longer before finding other means of transportation. 10 minutes (my guests said it was more like 15mins) may not seem like a big deal to them, but when time is ticking and you have someplace to be and there is no sign of a bus showing up, people are not just going to hang around. 2. Being late is plain unacceptable. I could see if there was a freak accident on the highway or something, but when they described the "traffic" they got stuck I realized they were talking about normal weekend traffic going over the bridge from Wicasset into Boothbay. 3. It was extremely unprofessional that I was not given a call back within normal business hours before the weekend to discuss the issue in person.

They would not budge at all on a refund and they never sincerely apologized for the issue. I would have even taken a partial refund, but no, they couldn't even do that for me. I spent $850 to transport 8 people in a bus big enough to fit 48 guests and they couldn't get out of their own way to see how that's a problem. Stay away from this company. They do not care about the people they serve.

March 22nd we boarded a full bus & waited for late arrivals which made our experience at the Boston Flower Show one half hour short. The seating was outrageously snug. Like sardines in a can! Would have been more comfortable sitting in the bathroom. More leg room.... Never again will we call Vip Bus company for bus travel.
On a positive note the driver was polite, informative, and helpful with all questions. A top notch guy who cared about our comfort. Who knew the arm rest was ready to use?
One more concern....The cell phone usage and loud talking was unbearable. Like 50+ radios going....going....going nonstop.

Unsafe - Unsanitary! To say it was disappointing would be an understatement. I tried calling Jason who claimed he was an owner, but he was just rude when I was trying to be helpful. Clearly repeat business is not something they need.

Our trip to Foxborough was on a 45F day. Jason claimed that the reason why the restrooms didn't work is because it was freezing. I'm not sure what grade school he went to, but freezing starts at 32F. The driver was nice until irritated, and then cussed under his breath (but within earshot to my Mom and I in the first row behind him). Things that irritated him? The passengers. Not good.

No bathrooms on the way down, and no offer to stop on the 2.5 hours drive down. He said that he would try to have it fixed for the long trip back. After the game, it took us almost 4 hours to get back - STILL no bathrooms or offer to stop - and he thought it was funny! He had some choice words for the last customer on the bus because they were about 15 minutes late, which I understand is frustrating, but the language progressed as we got into traffic. The front defogger for the windshield didn't work, and so the driver kept swerving out of his lane on the highway to stand up in his seat and wipe the inside of the window with a paper towel!!! Talk about unsafe!!!

I tried talking to Jason at the company, and he wasn't the least bit apologetic or understanding. he was rude, defensive, and said "that doesn't sound right". Really?

I felt strongly enough about the issue and my family was unsafe and offended enough by your company and your driver to take the time to call you and then write this review. Maybe it is not important to the company, but potential customer should beware!

We recently took a multi-day school trip and the driver we had was awesome! We had a 9 hour drive to our destination and Kurt (the driver) was pleasant, engaging and pointed out landmarks to keep the kids from getting too antsy on the bus. He made sure the kids had a parent with them at all our rest stops and made what could have been a long drawn-out drive very pleasant. I highly recommend!

VIP charter company has been serving Maine for over 25 yrs continuously, currently also doing daily service for USM here in portland to other nearby communities. As well as the big 45' Prevost busses they run to Foxwoods casino Thursday-Sunday... It's worth giving us a call! Ask for Lana, and say Geoff sent you!

We recently hired VIP Tours to handle transportation for our rehearsal dinner and wedding in Portland. With many guests coming from far out of town, providing transportation to and from our reception was a priority. VIP Tours supplied two luxury charter buses that were perfect for the task. Everything ran on time and our guests were quite appreciative!
