I found our whole trip to the Noarlunga Ice Skating Rink a bit... well... weird. But saying that my niece absolutely loved getting out on the ice.
We went on a Friday night, at around 6:00, it turns out that regular public skating is from 1pm-3pm on weekdays, and 7pm-9.30pm on Fridays, with similar times on weekends. So we were there a bit early, but were allowed to go out on the ice. There was still a lesson going on, and I really felt like we were intruding.
When 7pm came around the place started filling up. There were a few regulars, and they seemed to have control of the joint. They had their iPods hooked up to the sound system, and were whooshing around the ice. At times I imagine it would have been a bit intimidating for some of the more inexperienced kids.
The place itself is a little ragtag. There were very worn sofas, it just looked a little old. But from the sounds of things it costs a lot to run one of these places, and if news reports are correct it could be shutting down if it doesn't get the funds it needs.
At the end of the day you don't notice that it looks a bit daggy when you're having fun on the ice, and as one of the only two ice rinks in SA I hope it manages to stick around.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Michelle C.South Australia, 澳洲63854892011年11月28日分享評語第一人
I really enjoy taking the kids here. It's right around the corner from home, and considering the only other ice skating rink in SA is near the city, it makes this one more than convenient.
The prices aren't bad for casual skating but I have never tried any of the fancier stuff they offer - like ice hockey. Bit rough for me but you feel free to give it a try and let me know.
It's a nice relaxed atmosphere. They still have party area's and a DJ pumping out the tunes (usually Top 40 style stuff but it gets you going). Funny how some good music seems to make you skate better! They also do some games including limbo during every casual skating session. And I know they have an ice skating disco type event on weekly but I prefer the relaxed weekend afternoon sessions.
Also parking is provided on site so no need to find a car park somewhere in the street like at the Ice Arena. If you want to see some footage inside the rink there's some extreme skating videos on Youtube that were filmed here.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Saria N.澳洲042012年8月31日
This ice rink is amazing. My friend works here so were there pretty often keeping her company. There are the few guys who squeeze between you and a friend and some of the kids that they've squeezed between have actually fallen over.
It costs a bit much but once your on the ice it is really worth it. You laugh and you have a great time. They have a few games such as limbo, a Frisbee game and then they have the disco(lights off disco lights on thing) and it's really enjoyable. The ramp closest to the rink is really hard to go down and I've fallen down a few times leaving me with bruises.
The best thing about it though is the memories you get to have when your with your friends. I have photos from my birthday with my friends on the ice and all of us smiling laughing and then me crying when I dislocated my knee -.-
You should go here seeing it is only one of to in south Australia but it's on the southern side so don't come if your on the northern side. I think it's a bit far :)Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0
