Great Food. Really Great Prices.
I might be thinking that this place is super cheap because I'm from San Francisco, but I still think that it is a great value. I think that this place is by far the best place in Ennis. I really like their burgers. $6.45 for 1/3 pound, $7.45(i think) for a 1/2 pound burger. All meals served with fries, chips, or cottage cheese (onion rings or make-your-own-salad for $1.50 extra). I'm so glad that this place opened because their weren't really any other good restaurants that I have ever been to in this town (I come here once a year) Make sure to get some mints on the way out, they are incredible. If you are coming through here on a road trip or if you a local, I would highly recommend this place.

After searching with GPS to find this place with no luck the night before, we learned from our fishing guide today, that this place moved up the street to the pizza pit stop, (same owners) now called the Pitstop Pizza and Grill. A pizza and bbq place.

We got the full bbq rib rack to go and take back to our hotel. It came with your choice of 2 sides and a piece of cornbread for 19.95.

First the good, we chose the baked beans and coleslaw as our sides, the beans were great, looked home made, with the flavor somewhere between cowboy beans and regular baked beans, really good! The ribs were really tender nicely seasoned and not soaked in sauce (a good thing in my book), they were good on their own, but even better with their smokey slightly spicy bbq sauce, literally finger licking GOOD!

The coleslaw was average, and the only thing bad I have to say about this place is that we didn't get the cornbread that was supposed to come with it. Instead they substituted a slice of bread, yet gave us the butter and honey for our missing cornbread. I just wish they had said something rather than sending us on our way...With the quality and fantastic flavor of the ribs and beans and bbq sauce I am sure the cornbread would have been great!

Summary: great food, good prices, friendly service.

This must be the only place to eat in Ennis because I've been here twice.

I like the rustic charm and rod and reel decor, but the service is too slow for a restaurant that size with that number of staff. i understand that time moves at a different pace in Montana versus California, but I work in a kitchen and I've waited tables and the place is just not that big for service to be that slow. (Side note: Thank god we didn't get the table two feet from the bathroom.)

Our drink orders had not been taken by the time our food was brought out. Thankfully, we had waters on the table.

I had the flank salad, which was good even though the Asian twist on it seemed a little out of place on the menu. It was a hassle to get another dressing besides the sesame dressing that comes on it. First, I was persuaded the default dressing was "really good" (I don't especially like the taste of sesame oil) and after getting our salads and being told she would be back with the other dressing, we waited another five minutes. Five minutes is a long time when you have your food in front of you. Someone suggested just walking to the salad bar to get some. I picked at my dry salad until she surfaced (the restaurant seems to have three rooms, including the kitchen, if you get my drift). When reminded, she walked over to the salad bar and brought us some dressing.

It wasn't horrible, but it wasn't fantastic. Seems like it wouldn't be too hard to speed things up a bit with the number of employees that seemed to be working. That said, the service wasn't that bad the first time I ate there.

The food is decent. Tasty and attractive. The fresh chives on my salad showed someone in the back of the house knows how to wield a sharp knife. My son enjoyed a BBQ beef sandwich and I enviously eyed others' veggie sandwich and cheese steak. I was a little disappointed that there wasn't any trout or local fish on the menu considering the location.

All in all, I'd go again, mostly out of necessity, but also because I believe they can do better.

If you pass through Ennis around dinner, you must eat here.
Smoked trout with caper-cream and toast points - Good, the trout was flavorful, but a bit dry
Local Greens, Goat Cheese and Huckleberry dressing - Outstanding, fresh greens and the dressing was not too sweet
Pork and been soup - outstanding, savory, rich, not-greasy
Petite Filet with Artichoke, Sun-dried Tomatoes and Mushrooms - Very good, the pan sauce was excellent, the fillet was very flavorful, but not has tender as you can find in MT
House-made Blackberry Pie - incredible.
Large selection of Big Sky Brewing beers on tap and in bottle, recommend the Trout Slayer
Service was friendly and prompt.

Really good hot wings and bison quesdia. The pulled pork and patato stew (soup of the day) was also very good. I also really liked their house hot bbq sauce. My wife enjoyed the pig wings and my youngest son devoured the kids ribs (which looked really good) All told it waqs a great meal.

We came in on a busy Friday night. Two of their three tap beers were out =( We waited a reasonable ~15 minutes to be seated. The food took a little longer to arrive but our drinks were taken care of and we spent the time talking about what we had done that day.

Service was great.

One of the better option in Ennis. Chicken and Ribs combo plate was fantastic.

This is such a great place for lunch. Friendly service, efficient, nice menu selection, and of course tasty food! If you are a burger fan, you absolutely have to check out their burgers. They also try to have as much locally grown/raised menu items as possible, I for one really appreciate that.

This place has changed names but not owners. It is Pit Stop pizza now but has same owner and quality homemade food using local stuff when possible. Its still good. The lady owner changed the place to accommodate the local redneck types...but its still quality. And same good coffee too.I was glad to see it.

Great ribs and pizza. Friendly and efficient service. Do your self a flavor and try it out.
