I was made aware of this company through ads. The unending relentless adds. But have to say, in the beginning it proved very useful. It was way easier then trying to do them all yourself. But then I realized I still hit the same 4 or 5 sites anyway and I could do it myself too.

So I think they are great if you really want to see every possible option, but sometimes it's faster to just go to another site quickly.

A modern, hype and cool company in the middle of Dusseldorf? Who would have imagined. I visited the office because one of my friends used to work there and he gave me a tour. This place is neat. One of the company values, from what I could see is multiculturalism and they bring that to life from hiring people from all over the world and doing several activities throughout the year to share all the employee's traditions and cultures - I think this is pretty amazing.

I have used Trivago's services several times to find hotels in Asia and Brasil, and the only reason a fifth star is not there yet is that I would like to read more reviews before booking a hotel and they don't have many available. This could be fixed by using other partners APIs - hope they think about it and change it soon. :)

I booked a room in Monterey for $94 per night thru Trivago. I am being charged $195 per night. Unfortunately, I trusted Trivago and didn't open the confirmation email. This is a total rip off when I could have walked on the premises for $94 last night! NEVER use Trivago...they are a sham!

Trivago should be used "VERY CAREFULLY". You are not giving Trivago your Credit Card info. They use 3rd party [ different company ] to actually book the Hotel and charge your Credit Card . The problem with this is:
1. They give you a confirmation number that is basically useless when trying to confirm your reservation with the hotel. It is "Their" confirmation number, NOT the Hotels.
2. They will tell you that your reservation will show up on the Hotels Reservation system 72 hrs before the actual reservation. { Are you flipping kidding me ??? }
3. ANY problems and you will be dealing with the 3rd Party site. In my case, Hotel Power.Com. NOT TRIVAGO !
4. Very misleading by NOT saying upfront they [trivago] "DO NOT" book the Hotel Room.
While I succeeded in canceling my reservation and I think my credit card is in the clear....Time will tell...Do yourself a favor and book with the Hotel Directly or use, Kayak, Orbitz or Priceline

Booked hotel through Trivago. Or so I thought. Got a confirmation back from an outfit calling themselves "Cancelon."

The confirmation said I could cancel or amend booking up to a certain date. A week before that date I tried to cancel the first night. Two emails were ignored. I called and the person at the call center said they would have to check and would "let me know" (why?) by email.

A day later they replied by email that said, and I quote:

"Following your request to cancel first night reservation from your upcoming booking. I would like to inform you you will get the refund for $25.00 USD as per the current availability and pricing."

Three further emails questioning this were also ignored.

So my nearly $250 / night room could be cancelled for a refund of just $25. I suppose technically they did allow me to cancel. Not really what I had in mind though. Dishonest to the point of fraud, IMO.

I will never use Trivago again. Also, check who is actually making the booking before you book.

Do NOT use HotelPower.com -- COMPLETE scam! I booked a hotel with them via Trivago, they took my money then everyday for 6 days I called them and chatted via their website begging for my hotel confirmation number. I also kept calling the hotel and they did NOT have my reservation! When you call HotelPower.com they are as friendly as hell and ask you for 'just another day' to find out what's going on. Shame on me for not reading all the negative reviews about them because all the reviews are spot on! I finally called the day before my travel and asked for my money back. I was very straight forward with the lady on the phone and told her she works for a company who scams people and started reading her some reviews! ha! Finally said I will stop payment from my credit card. Thankfully my bank did refund my money as they know of this scam! The day I checked out of another hotel (reservation made by me) HotelPower.com left me a voicemail with my so called hotel confirmation! Really? The day after? Idiots!

Got to the page of Otel.com through Trivago, hoping that they will make sure all the provider on the website are good. But Ups !! NOP

in Otel.com The page indicated that YES you can cancel reservation, then after canceling 1 hour later, We got mail that OK they are going to refund from otel.com, after 3 weeks with NO refund , when I call them about the refund, they tell me that it is not refundable, and that i have to create a ticket ( Ticket #JQW-519-87959 ) on there page! 1 more week has passed and they do not respond !!! They are not serious, We have all the support of all the documentation of the above indicated!
Beware of company otel,com that shows in Trivago!!!

I would leave no stars if I could. Made a reservation was transferred to this website "cancel on" said it refundable up to a certain date. Mudslides in SoCal made it impossible for us to get there. Called a day after reservation to let them know due to the weather we had to cancel. Was told it was not refundable and I could get $25 for my troubles or create a ticket. I created a ticket and the next day got an email said they were investigating it. Three weeks later got an email that said inclement weather is not a reason to cancel trip so I'm out $500. Trivago is fraud fraud fraud!!!!!!!

I booked reservations with Trivago for a 2day stay at the Shilo inn at Seaside, Oregon, in December 2016. For June 2017.

I received confirmation shortly after from a company called CANCELON assuring me that my reservations were made. That should have been a red flag.....what happened to TRIVAGO.....they passed me off to another company.....CANCELON billed my credit card as non refundable.

When arrived at the Shilo inn I was told that I had no reservations, I showed the desk person my confirmation and was told that it was no good, they had never heard of CANCELON.

Trying to connect with TRIVAGO to complain is nearly impossible and not user friendly at all.

I have managed to contact CANCELON support they agreed to refund my money in full but with many roadblocks which in my opinion are unnecessary and I have told them so.

Bottom line: avoid these type of companies like the plague

If you book through the Hotel in the first place this stuff would not happen. Most of these low rates are good,eh well you need to read between the lines. Rooms are not Guaranteed if you book, through a Third Party Hotel Site, you are better off booking Directly through a Hotel, where you are Guaranteed the room and rate you are looking at. u
